More Practice Waiting :)
Just wanted to do a quick update since so many are texting/calling and praying. Somehow there was a mixup with orders and they did not get put in. I called patient flow around 1 when I hadn't heard anything yet and they said they didn't have any admit orders. I called the Pulmonary call center and they sent a direct message to Dr. Solomon. Jenny Clardy had come over early this morning to wait with me and was driving me around to get some last minute things done before we got a call. We went and had lunch and then came home so I could do treatments and finish packing etc and I sent a message in the patient portal just to confirm orders were in now. Angela, the clinical nurse coordinator (who is AMAZING by the way!), called a couple minutes after I sent the message and said orders were in and Dr. Solomon had talked to the inpatient team so they are now ready and waiting for me as soon as a bed is available. I know it's flu/covid/RSV season so knowing that, I asked Angela what her thoughts were on whether or not I would actually get a bed today with the orders being put in this afternoon, she couldn't say but she did tell me that today alone she's had 10 patients call with the flu or covid.....so yeah, there's that lol. So I waited a little bit and called patient flow again and she said it's highly unlikely I'll get a bed today and that it would more than likely be sometime tomorrow. Thankfully, Jenny can give me a ride tomorrow too--and the patient flow lady did say if anything changed, she had my number and would give me a call..........so I could be upset and frustrated that something fell through the cracks, but I'm choosing to be thankful for the blessings--another night with my hubby, time to walk Blue with my sweet friend Jenny on this absolutely gorgeous afternoon--and I was able to get my DL renewed and pick up some last minute things I needed for the hospital and get Jord a few little treats and Blue a special toy that was on clearance at Petco. There's definitely some disappointment as I would prefer to get things going sooner so I don't have to reschedule my surgery, but it's looking more and more like that's what's going to have to happen because I'm having trouble squeezing in a pre-op appointment after getting discharged from the hospital and before surgery early on the 31st here in Huntsville--so that would be the big prayer request as of now that things would move quickly and smoothly, but also carefully, so that I could still have my surgery on the 31st in order to have time to heal for a vacation that starts May 11th that we've had planned with Mom and Dad and the McAteer's for over a year--I will still go if I'm not completely healed up, but it would obviously be more enjoyable if I'm not still super sore. But God--His plans are perfect and He knows what the future holds---and yeah I still do REALLY want to make the Mercy Me concert on the 30th for Mom's birthday too....so there's that. :) Also, God is bigger than a hospital bed flow schedule, so even if I get a bed super late tonight it's better to get some of the things started because you never get sleep the first night and then I can consult with the team first thing in the morning when they come on rotation--so that would be the two big prayer requests now--and just as I was typing these things, Dr. Macintosh's office called and got my pre-op appointment moved to the afternoon of the 27th--so pray I'm able to be discharged that morning to keep the same surgery date! :)
